For credit card transactions, why is US-based Amazon’s security code (CVV) not required?

Amazon provides assurance to the credit card industry that it can provide the same level of security as other online businesses by using its large amount of data.
Is it possible to use my card without a CVV?
Even if someone physically steals your credit or debit card, they cannot use it because they cannot complete the transaction without the CVV. Dynamic CVV filters won’t completely eliminate fraudulent online payments, but they will reduce the risk. Cards and banks can’t handle everything on their own.
