Spirit Airlines Starts Flights To New Mexican Airport in Tulum

Spirit Airlines has announced the introduction of new, direct flights to Tulum, therefore facilitating travel for Americans to Mexico.

Flights departing from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Orlando International Airport to Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport in Tulum will commence on March 28, coinciding with the official opening of the Mexican airport.

Spirit is the first budget airline in the United States to declare its intention to operate flights at the recently constructed airport.

“Tulum is becoming a more popular destination for tourists who want to relax, and our non-stop flights from Florida will make it easier than ever to visit Mexico’s captivating coastline, just in time for spring break,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Spirit Airlines.

The airline is now providing special one-way rates, beginning at $149, which include taxes and duties, to commemorate the launch of the new Tulum route. Passengers have the opportunity to claim the first discounted price for trips taking place from April 10 to May 21, 2024.

“Our extensive track record of catering to Mexico, combined with the introduction of Tulum’s new airport, will significantly facilitate our guests’ access to the city and enhance their ability to appreciate its beaches, historical sites, and diverse range of distinctive activities,” Kirby said.

The inclusion of direct flights to Tulum expands the airline’s global offerings at Fort Lauderdale airport to 26 destinations and Miami to 11 locations.

Florida acts as a point of entry for Spirit’s flights to Latin America and the Caribbean. The addition of the new Tulum route provides travelers from 53 destinations throughout the U.S. with a one-stop alternative.
