McDonald’s has introduced a new Hot Dog Snack Wrap, but there’s a catch – you’ll need to purchase a plane ticket to taste it.
Ever since the discontinuation of McDonald’s Snack Wraps in 2016, devoted fans have been longing for their return. However, there’s a way to still enjoy a McDonald’s Snack Wrap, but it involves a journey beyond the borders of the United States.
If you happen to visit South Korea, you’ll discover that McDonald’s outlets there offer their own unique version of this beloved menu item.
Instead of featuring chicken as the main ingredient, they’ve put hot dogs in the spotlight. Introduced in 2022 as part of their “Happy Snack” menu, South Korea’s “Sausage Snack Wrap” comprises a hot dog, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and smoky bacon sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla.
A few weeks ago, the food Instagram account snackolator shared a post about the Sausage Snack Wrap, asking its followers if they would be willing to try it if it meant bringing Snack Wraps back to the U.S. The response was mixed, with some expressing eagerness to give it a try, while others were less enthusiastic.
McDonald’s USA discontinued Snack Wraps in 2016 due to issues with the item’s assembly process, which led franchisees to advocate for its removal.
Introduced in 2006, McDonald’s Snack Wraps featured a choice of grilled or crispy chicken, lettuce, sauce, and shredded cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla.
Seven years after removing Snack Wraps from the menu, McDonald’s announced plans to bring back the popular item. During an investor day earlier this month, Joe Erlinger, the president of McDonald’s USA, revealed the intention to reintroduce Snack Wraps as part of the expansion of the McCrispy line.
However, it’s still unclear when this item will be officially launched, as Erlinger mentioned that they are in the early stages of its development.
For those craving a Snack Wrap, there’s no need to travel all the way to South Korea. Various fast-food chains in the U.S. offer their own versions of this menu item.
Wendy’s, for example, introduced its Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap in March, featuring herb-marinated grilled chicken breast, shredded cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce, and a creamy ranch sauce wrapped in a warm tortilla.
Additionally, McDonald’s enthusiasts willing to venture to Canada can indulge in various varieties of Snack Wraps, including Spicy Buffalo Chicken and Ranch Chicken.
